Surface Room
2019 — spatial installation — projection, mist

Surface Room explores the threshold between physical and virtual space through light, shadow and digitally rendered imagery. A series of displays and objects use the surface of the screen as a spatial boundary, allowing elements to appear in front of, behind or within it.

The installation emerged from experiments with mixed reality and illusion, investigating how physical and simulated space can visually merge. Rather than separating the virtual from the real, the work uses their overlap as a moment in which spatial perception becomes uncertain.
